Re: Dominican Republic: Two Hit & Killed By Out Of Control SUV
How so? Tourism is one of the best ways for a country to raise its living standard and get out of poverty. Poor people don't travel, only middle income and rich people. Those are the kinds of people that spend money....money that will become a salary for the locals. Even better. Tourism brings more attention and eyes to the region, meaning, flaws in governance and infrastructure become more obvious and will get fixed soon. Touristy places in most underdeveloped nations are the safest and best places you can be in. |

nasty leg bend too. They were identified as Freddy Arias, from Catalina, and Tablero el Lame. The woman Raysa was more lucky and got injured and at a health center now. Mrs. Milagros Balbuena Santana, from Moca, was arrested for the incident. She was the person driving the vehicle when it hit the three people. Two of the victims died instantly. |

The two guys took a direct hit from the SUV and were killed instantly, the woman was dragged by the front of the scooter and injured when thrown against the wall.

I find it VERY curious that the one guy is holding a chicken!! Chickens are KNOWN to generate "Crossing the Road" accidents! They are only slightly less than Squirrel Elements in the "Danger Rating"! |

Re: Dominican Republic: Two Hit & Killed By Out Of Control SUV
Cemented your ignorance about tourism and how it impacts the DR. Based on your comments, I think you might be Dominican trying to push a safe image of the DR. Furthermore, you have not visited underdeveloped countries in Latin America, Africa or Middle East. I keep it simple, try visiting Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Colombia, Haiti, or plain and simple all of Latin America. It is underdeveloped and extremely unsafe place to be. |
