If you stop and slow mo while it drops you can see he actually jumped clear and didnt get squished at all, and the fluid is all hydrolic,
I think you're right too. His feet are right on the edge of the frame and it looks like he just jumped back out of the way! Good catch as i never would have seen it

We work on dump trucks often here. We always bring them in the shop and use a hoist to hold the bed up from above as well as putting supports between the bed and the truck frame.

It keeps anyone from being turned into mashed taters like this guy
How safe are the supports and...ropes/cables? Does your company keep them updated? Or you all using the same cables and supports for years?
