Shows how messed up the mental health situation here is in the US. Cops should not be the one having to deal with crazy people. I love calling out the officers who are trigger happy and deserve the heat. Dealing with schizo people, you NEVER know how bad off they are, you should not be expected to get stabbed simply because someone ELSE is mentally ill or off their meds.

Clean shoot, sad situation for the family and I feel bad for the cop for having to take a life. You never know how that will effect you.

So much truth in this comment. Your right; the fact is police are not trained to deal with the mentally ill and shouldn't have to be. In our current state of mental healthcare I'd understand them teaching police recognizing blatant signs of psychosis, but they aren't mental health workers and shouldn't be expected to play both protector and caregiver.
