A cyclist working as a deliveryman was fatally struck by a Light Rail Vehicle on the morning of this Friday (16).

Due to the impact, the deliveryman was dragged for a few meters and fell under the VLT. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, and paramedics confirmed the death of the victim, a 48-year-old man who worked at a fruit stall in Sobral’s Public Market.

According to Metrofor, the VLT was traveling at low speed with its horn activated, following standard procedure for that section, when the man moved onto the tracks.
