A woman was stabbed to death by her 'stalker' as bystanders just stood and watched her die.

CCTV footage show a man approach the woman - named as teacher Karuna, 22, from Sant Nagar in Burari - on a busy street in Delhi Tuesday morning.

Madhur Verma, deputy commissioner of police, North Delhi, said that Singh stabbed Karuna as revenge as she was in love with someone else.

Singh had been stalking Karuna for over a year, prompting her family to lodge a complaint against him 4-5 months ago, according to DCP. However, their families had reached a compromise, he said.

A man who claimed to have tried to stop Singh from stabbing the woman, said that Singh started dancing after he was done.

Following the attack, the 34-year-old accused was thrashed by the locals before being arrested.

He stabbed her 22 times.
