EDIT: Having read some online comments, I believe the man had actually died of some other cause, and only afterwards did the jaguar come to devour him. This is mainly due to the lack of blood at the scene and a lack of damage to his soccer top. Backstory is as translated from a Brazilian source.

The brutal death of 36-year-old E.G.d.J. shocked the small community of Vila Santa Fé, located in southeastern Pará state. According to witnesses, the man was attacked by a jaguar while sleeping in his shack, in the middle of native forest in the region.

E. was known by local residents for his dependency on alcohol. He used to roam the streets of the small community and was often seen sleeping in makeshift tents on the side of the road. He hadn't been seen for some time before his body was discovered.

The body was found in a shack around 9.30pm. There were shocking scenes: jaguar tracks were found inside the shack, and part of E.'s feet and head were devoured by the animal.

The presence of jaguars in the region is not new to residents. The animal is common in the region and is usually seen roaming the forests. However, there had never been an attack as violent as this one.
