Re: Death by Tire Explosion
I work for a transport company in the Netherlands, this has happened once, in the 1990s, during truck maintenance in our garage, one of my colleagues was hit square in the chest by the wheel rim. His injuries were broken ribs and internal bleeding. He later showed me where he was standing when it exploded it was about 2 meters away or 6'6" . He had just filled the tyre, whilst the HGV cab was raised on a ramp. We put between 120 and 135 psi in the tyres depending on weather conditions here, which in itself is not dangerous, but damage to the tyre is what usually causes this shit to happen. I guess in poor countries the reusing of worn out tyres on badly maintained roads leads to a higher frequency of these deaths. |

Re: Death by Tire Explosion
It’s not a mega high bar or psi, 40 or 50 psi tops... the way this tyre shot up it looks like it failed on the bottom to make it rise like a firework ... regardless of pressure measurements pal, a loss of stored energy when you are almost kissing ground zero will end like this |

Re: Death by Tire Explosion
Looks like he was using water for find air leaks. The water around the leak or puncture will bubble up. He probably put way to much air in the tire so he could find the leak, then KABOOM, right in the kisser. |
