I'm very much pro-police but, in this situation, it doesn't look good for the officer who fired his weapon.

The offender had been armed, however, he had ditched his gun about 20 - 30 feet prior to reaching the fence. The officer who shot him likely didn't know that, though. I'm aware police officers have only split seconds to make their decisions, but i don't know that it can be justified to shoot an offender trying to climb a fence when you can't see a weapon in his hand. The police are already under intense scrutiny here in Chicago, so shooting a fleeing offender who has no weapon in hand is not going to go over well.

That said, this whole thing could have been avoided had the offender not tried running from the police in the first place.

Did anyone see the weapon the officer was yelling about? I looked over and over. Officers were looking around and apparently didn't see one either. Was there one?

Every weekend theres hundreds of shootings and multiple fatalities.

Every now and then a cop vs black dude pops up and the blacks lose their minds. The difference between these 2 scenarios is the former is done by feral black thugs and the latter is done by 1: a cop, 2: a white guy or 3: a combination of 1 & 2.

Running with a weapon, especially from law enforcement is not advisable. May result in death and serious injury. All personnel who participate in such hazardous activities should be prepared to be well received by the people who are doing their jobs
