Brazil, The incident began as a 20-kilometer high-speed car chase after police tried to intercept two vehicles packed with weapons and gang members from Comando Vermelho who were traveling from Vila Kennedy toward the Penha favela complex, which is a massive group of favelas located in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, to start a territorial turf war with Terceiro Comando Puro faction members.

When Police units gave a command to pull over, the criminals defied orders, opened fire through their own windshield and sped off. The pursuit ended at a Police roadblock and the Police started to fire back.

As a result one Police officer, Cabo F.P.R.R. (38 years old), who had celebrated his 38th birthday just two days prior, was shot in the head and tragically succumbed to his wounds later on in the Hospital.

Four unidentified members of the Comando Vermelho were killed during the final shootout when their getaway car crashed into a wall and police surrounded them.

A second military police officer, Charles B.d.S. who was shot and remains hospitalized in critical/grave condition after undergoing emergency surgery and Vitor A.S.d.S, an innocent motorist caught in the crossfire suffered a stray bullet injury and also remains in grave condition.

Two additional cartel gunmen were shot, arrested and transferred to the Hospital in grave condition.

The dead and wounded cartel members were tossed in the back of a police pick-up truck. Police seized a total of 10 weapons from the cartel members. This included 6 assault rifles, 3 pistols, and 1 grenade.

Yes, but their former owners were evil. If the local residents got them, those people would be quickly removed, and the local's lives would be better. Sometimes guns do good things.
