.38? isn't that too big for a .38 slug? even for a jacketed hollow point or a flat nosed slug. unless it was done point blank with the gunpowder blast to help.

If you are hit at 90 degrees you may get just an entry hole. Get hit at an angle e.g. ducking or turning away from the shooter and you get more surface area impact. Throw in bullet types and distance and it all varies. |

You never know. It could be a lead soft point, or a wadcutter which mushroomed nicely, could be the blast pressure if up close, many different variables... But I'll tell ya. He needed that like a hole in the head.
