Dead Chinese Worker Hoisted Out of Underground Septic Tank
One of two Chinese workers that were employed to clean a large underground septic tank, without any gear protecting them from the stench and gases, died after losing consciousness. Police and the firefighters were called to the scene after one of the two men was heard screaming for help from the bottom of the tank. After arrival the victim had completely lost consciousness in the tank filled with excrement and urine after inhaling the gases and being exposed to the smell for too long without any gear. He is thought to have drowned shortly afterwards, while his colleague tried to save him when he too passed out. Firefighters lowered themselves into the septic tank and managed to rescue the helping survivor first. The unnamed victim was later hoisted out of the tank and taken to hospital, where he was officially pronounced doa. Local authorities are investigating the case. |
