Re: Dagestan 6 Kaufman Interrogation with Subtitles
I get the impression the guy was hesitant about cutting up that Russian conscript. Was it just an act on his part, or did he not actually want to kill him but realized he had to considering the company he was with?

That guy was put on trial, and his story is exactly that, that he was unexpectedly ordered to do it and didn't want to, etc. He said when he first sliced him a little and blood started to come out he got really scared and hesitated, which is pretty much what you see in the video.

Re: Dagestan 6 Kaufman Interrogation with Subtitles
This is not the guy you are writing who got scared and hesitated, there was an article about Lipatov, soldier who tried to escape and was shot, that person who first tried to kill him, told later that leader of the group Umar chose 5 of them and gaved order to kill soldiers and he was chosen because he was new in that group and not everyone trusted him. After he sliced Lipatovs neck he could not finish him, that why another animal came and then Lipatov escaped and was shot.

Re: Dagestan 6 Kaufman Interrogation with Subtitles
^While that may be, it still seems like Kaufmans executioner was hesitant about his job as well. You can almost tell from his mannerisms that he didn't seem extremely gung ho about it compared to his compatriots. In the end it took intervention from his comrades-in-arms before he just went "Fuck it, I'll finish this myself" - probably because he realized he had to, since his pals were starting to get pretty savage on Kaufman (punching him/rifle butting him). That's how I see it anyway with the way they converse back and forth and the way the Chechen is holding his knife and such. Then again, I've read stories where before beheading a Russian solider, Chechens would calmly taunt or talk to their victim, as if to give them a glimmer of hope, when they planned on slitting their throat the whole time - almost like prolonging the mental anguish of knowing you're going to die. I'd like to think at least some of those Dagestan rebels had some form of conscience. Otherwise, they're just wild animals, and you can't trust a wild animal to behave in the norm. |
