Helmets don't prevent trucks from driving over you. Usually these spandex riders drive in the middle of the road but I don't know about this guy. Maybe he rode on the side of the road where he was supposed to. I fucking hate all endurance athletes and all players of any team sports but not so much that I would rejoice their death.
