Re: CSX Train Suicide in Fairport NY
That was near my cousin's home. He just made it down in time. Now we'll wait for the comments about how the train engineer was "traumatized." |

Re: CSX Train Suicide in Fairport NY
On May 30, 2025, a man died by suicide after stepping onto train tracks on Main Street in Fairport, New York, in front of an oncoming train, as reported by Fairport Police Chief Mathew Barnes. The incident, which occurred around 3 p.m., led to a temporary halt of train operations and a response from first responders, including firefighters and police. Barnes noted this was not the first such incident at this location, referencing a similar event about a year and a half prior. As police continued their investigation, they worked closely with railroad officials to review surveillance footage and reconstruct the moments leading up to the fatal incident. While the identity of the individual has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin, authorities believe the incident was intentional. The location of the incident—along a well-traveled section of Main Street near the village center—led to temporary traffic delays. Chief Barnes advised drivers to steer clear of the area for at least an hour after the incident, while crews finished their on-scene work and ensured the area was safe to reopen. The tragic death is a painful reminder of the mental health challenges that many individuals silently endure. Though details remain limited, local advocates and law enforcement stress the importance of checking in on loved ones and seeking support when needed. “You never know what someone is going through,” one officer on the scene commented. “If this can serve as a reminder to reach out, to offer help, then maybe we can prevent something like this from happening again.” |

Re: CSX Train Suicide in Fairport NY
My late father was an engineer for CSX (& earlier incarnations) for many years. He told me about accidents with people and/or vehicles where people bit the big one. He only gave minimal surface details which was consistent with how he talked/didn't talk about his service in the Pacific during WWII. Of course, he never talked about how these accidents actually affected him but you could tell that there was quite a bit of stuff going on just beneath the surface as a result of these deaths.

Re: CSX Train Suicide in Fairport NY
It looks like he was just walking along and suddenly saw the train and thought to himself “Hey, why don’t I throw myself under that train like I saw those Indians do on Documenting Reality?Documenting Reality, where true gore fans go for all their gore needs” I’ll bet that exactly what happened |
