Someone who collects sand to sell to companies for concrete work and a billion other things sand is used in. The only sand that can be used, is water and beach sand - not desert sand. It’s the wrong shape and doesn’t interlock like wet sand. In the water, sand is what holds the microbes(base of the ecosystem). It’s being taken faster than it’s being produced, which is a problem... |

Sandseekers scrape sand from the river banks and river beds and it’s sold for construction. This goes on all over the third world countries and is a serious problem as there is a severe sand shortage in many countries. Not just any sand can be used for concrete or mortar production, it has to be of a particular grade. Desert sands don’t fit the bill, so these guys strip it from rivers and estuaries and it’s big business. |
