A plainclothes Military Police soldier shot dead a thief after reacting to an attempted robbery at the toll plaza on a highway on the mainland of São Vicente.

The criminal, who has not yet been identified, was carrying a replica pistol and was accompanied by two other suspects. After announcing the robbery, the police officer reacted and shot one of the criminals, at which point the other two fled.

A medical team arrived at the scene in an ambulance, but the criminal was already dead.

Cop feigned compliance and gave up his bike, but it was only a ruse until he could get a safe distance and unlimber his weapon. The perp got shot in the eye or had an eye blowout from brain matter overpressure due to a head shot.

Not necessarily. Could be a gun with a threaded barrel.
