Criminal Shot Dead After Attempted Robbery of PDI Officer
Chile. An intensive investigation was launched following a violent attempted robbery that ended with the death of one of the assailants after a police officer repelled the attack with his service weapon. This was confirmed by authorities from the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Investigative Police (PDI), who provided details from the scene. The chief prosecutor of the Western Flagrancy Prosecutor's Office, explained that the incident occurred when a police officer, returning from his work unit, was approached by 3 individuals inside his vehicle as he entered his home. He repelled this armed attack with his service weapon and during this armed exchange, one of the thieves was fatally wounded. The deceased was a 21-year-old man with a criminal record for property crimes. Two of them sentences of more than 541 days as the perpetrator of the crime of receiving stolen motor vehicles, the prosecutor explained, adding that one of those sentences was being served on probation. |

At first I thought: 'So... who shot this guy?' But I love it when someone receives a mortal wound in a situation like this, runs and thinks they're getting away, and the 'mortal-ness' of it overtakes them mid-dash. Last couple seconds of thought are "I'm getting away! I'm not getting away! Huh, I seem to be dying!"
