I can see doing this. Your mind will acknowledge the most severe pain in your body, and you won't notice other pains. If say, I had a bear trap snap shut on my nut sack, and there was somebody pouring salt on it, I'd probably stick my hand on a hot stove, because I WOULDN'T feel the stove.
