Covid Virus Crisis Prison Riot Leaves Many Death
After the riots of the prison population of the La Modelo prison, Bogota the inmates denounce an excessive and violent action by the Public Force that left many people murdered and dozens of wounded. According to the inmates, the riots were carried out as a protest against the government of President Iván Duque, who has not taken urgent measures to protect prisoners against the Covid virus crisis 19. The prisoners affirm that after the protests began, INPEC initiated violent actions against the prison population with firearms. The Ombudsman's Office is currently present in prison with the intention of establishing a communication channel; however, medical care is not being provided to those in serious health conditions. |
