Cops Try to Overpower Guy That Hacked Someone to Death on a Footbridge
Mumbai, April 12: A murder in broad daylight. It was 10:15 am when people were running to catch the city-bound trains for their workplaces, when a man hacked another man to death with chopper in front of other commuters on a footbridge at the Virar Railway station. Terror engulfed the entire area for well over 20 minutes when the alleged murderer identified as Mohan Pal (30) from Dahisar was seen brandishing his weapon and threatening other commuters. He actually plunged the weapon into another man who immediately fell down and in minutes he was lying in a pool of blood. As the crowd watched the man was bleeding to death. Pal was overpowered and arrested by Virar police. Onlookers said that there were arguments and counter arguments between the GRP and local police to determine whose jurisdiction the case falls as the victim was still lying in a pool of blood. Eventually the Virar Police took away the body for post-mortem and seized the murder weapon from Pal. It is learnt that Pal told police that the man he murdered was his rival and they both stay in Dahisar, but was adamant on not revealing the victim’s identity. The victim had allegedly thrashed the accused several time in the past and that the reason he planned a revenge on Monday as he was keeping a close tab on the victim’s movement. Following the victim to the Jeevdaani temple, where the victim used to visit once a week, he got hold of the ‘rival’ just over the footbridge and plunged the chopper before anyone could intervene. The police are scanning the CCTV footage of the station before starting their probe into the matter. However, Pal also suffered injuries in head and face during the scuffle. “He is not mentally stable and both were labourers. Pal is yet to disclose the identity of the victim. A police team was sent to Dahisar and a case of murder has been registered at the Virar police station. |
