In America when a cop goes out on an armed citizen call, he/she is already watering in the mouth at an almost certain opportunity to get a "justified" kill.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand it is impossible to reason with a mentally disturbed person.
There's no way anyone can convince them to drop whatever sort of "weapon" they are waving, so it is impossible not to get in a position that justifies shooting that person to death, especially if you purposefully get a few yards in front of them to stand in the danger zone.

A police officers #1 concern is getting home safe to their family. If some crazy woman comes at you with a sharp object, can you honestly say that you would put away your firearm and wrestle her to the ground. Would you take a chance that your taser would misfire? Either way possibly ending up in you being stabbed in the neck and bleeding to death?

This lady was a clear danger to the public. Fuck her well being if it means putting other civilians at risk.

To be fair the cop was calling for backup, probably with mace and tasers ready. Unfortunately the crazy woman decided to come from behind the counter towards the policeman before the less lethal takedown approach was possible.
