Is it possible the blood alcohol level was altered/concentrated by digestion continuing, but overall blood volume necessary for essential bodily functions was, shall we say, cut in half. Thus, being radically altered by events at hand, the blood alcohol level concentrated/elevated to appear higher than it actually was when he was operating his motorcycle.
