Give it a rest, it's not "religion", it's Islam, which explicitly commands that unbelievers are to be killed. How many thousands more posts of Islamic inspired brutality do you need to see to understand the problem is coming from one uniquely brutal ideology.

I try not to get involved in these discussions as a woman who used to practice both Christianity and Islam (not at the same time, of course). It IS religion. Christianity has calmed down severely since the days of it's beginnings. They too used to chop off heads and ravage villages and cities of this that were non believers or that fought against them. It wasn't until I studied the Old Testament (which interestingly enough led me to Islam) that I understood that. Organized religion sucks because it teaches people they are better than someone who doesn't believe. I personally don't think that is what God intended for mankind. I think that is mans interpretation and fucked up need for power that instills that on religion. Of course that is just my limited opinion. Islam is screwed up because they don't live by the Quran, but by hadith, which is a nothing more than a hell of a game of telephone...a 200 year old game. Even the scholars today can't agree on what the law should be.

As usual Hanze is one of the only ones with his head on straight around here. That translation is correct, more specifically he was killed for abandoning prayer, robbery, and drinking. Of course, that doesn't stop people from making bullshit versions like this, because as this thread proves, plenty of people around here are less worried about reality and more concerned with having an excuse to go off about something. |
