Re: Computer Engineering Student Scott "Scout" Schultz Shot by Cop on Campus
Cops do what they do. Someone with a knife walks towards me I'd rather have a gun than a taser. The problem with this whole situation is it started way before the poor chap with a knife went out and confronted cops. Mental illness is a social issue, as is violence. We perpetuate a world of shit and shit is what you get back, just hope that it the shit never happens to you. Until then, you don't need to know or try to understand, you just react with emotion and whatever bias you've been conditioned to have. |

Re: Computer Engineering Student Scott "Scout" Schultz Shot by Cop on Campus
For everyone bitching about him not using a tazer...they are NOT reliable ways to stop someone. They are NOT used in situations where you will die if it fails (and they often do). The tazer needles can get hung up on clothes or be deflected (and therefore rendered useless) or be ineffective if they hit the wrong spot or the guy is high on drugs and shrugs off the tazer. If you have a tazer out and it does not work you are now within striking distance or close enough for someone to charge or lunge at you and stab you in a second or less. Good way to die. As for why not to roundhouse kick the guy? It's not a fucking movie...the guy had a knife...you never approach anyone with a knife unless you have an absolute death wish. Get a fucking grip on reality people. |
