Because our entire culture has a massive hard-on for guns. We have enough firearms for every man, woman, and child. We also have non-existent mental health care so the police force and justice system is stuck babysitting the crazies, and we often get scenarios like this.

Nearly every other developed nation has this shit figured out but here in the US we would rather pass legislation on which bathrooms a tranny can and can’t use and give trillion dollar tax cuts to wealthy people.

It sucks to hear that .
On a contrary our police in India in general are armed with just sticks even when the terrorism alerts are at high always.

But the point here is that its scary for a foreigner to be in a situation like that . My last year visit to UK ( Out of fear I had to search how to confront police in UK as I was going to ride a hired bike for 10 days all round UK to Scotland with a foreign license) But it was a great experience and was not threatening at all but I dont think I have a good idea about doing the bike ride in US just because I will be scared of police. I would lie flat on road the moment I would hear the siren or a call to stop.

Agreed he was not such a bad ass once he got shot. It just makes me feel that people are living in a fantasy world.
