Re: Combat Clips Yugoslavia
The Balkan war was very bewildering, Tito showed that the only way to keep the variety of ethnic groups together was by a tight leech and stalinism. After Titos death(1980) and the economic crisis in the midst of the -80ies it just went boom.....remember that former Jugoslavia is now divided into 7 states with still some problems in Kosovo....

Re: Combat Clips Yugoslavia
Not all where scum, in fact few if any of the men on the ground where. Their hands where tied by laws and rules of engagement let alone the outright threat that intravention would lead to the execution of those being held against their will. That said not all where held by the same rules, some where collecting evidence deemed useless at the time but highly reguarded when it was used along with the written witness reports of the crimes comitted against civilians during the War Crimes Tribunals at the Hague. I too saw it with my own eyes and travelled exstensively throughout the country and was witness to more than most. If NATO are scum (I presume you say this either because of the UN (different from NATO) inability to react to the aggression and murderous act committed openly or the use of NATO planes to force the Serbs to the Peace Talks by the blowing of strategic bridges and the complete control of the existing passes from the north to the south...I was later involved in the control of these area's and we where no longer the impotent military dressed in white or blue that was expected, that showed Croat AND Serbs true colours as they backed right off when they saw we would and could fight more efficiently and in a disciplined manner than they ever imagined. The Bosniaks where pretty much a dessimated people by now and this brought the Mujahadeen into Europe in a way never seen before and they came to the peace table more readily. So if that is your premise for calling them (UN and/orNATO) scum, what does that make the aggressors who wiped out whole ethnic groups withn villages and towns? |
