Not sure on the quality of the units they are using, they appear very low, Chinesium grade, unless the image quality is being highly degraded by hosting/compression. I won't quote exact numbers because of ITAR but the stuff I use will detect FRACTIONS of a degree difference in temp. Meaning the avulsed material would still be detectable by the device even once the temperature cooled to within decimals of 1 degree Fahrenheit ambient (of the natural substrate).

Re: Close Up Thermal Kills

Sounds like a warranty issue, FLIR is known for high quality.

I personally own a Trijicon REAP-IR a NOX-18 and a HALO-XRF. They have such high quality images you can actually, "identify" people, not just, "detect". I actually tell people to go Thermal vs NOD's (if the budget doesn't allow both) as Thermal is much harder to deploy countermeasures against and works 24-7.
The Trijicon REAP-IR is definitely worth the almost 10K I paid for the 60mm lens option.

The other two I have never tested.

Yeah the 60mm is seriously legit. It takes a really well trained and dedicated opponent, who knows exactly how to deploy countermeasures, to try and get past one of those.

Re: Close Up Thermal Kills

Not sure how you missed it? Even the first commenter talks about it...
I know this is old but to be fair this didn't appear to be a DECAPITATION. The cranium already looked popped open and all he did was shoot more into the head.

Or have we all not known the definition of a decapitation?

Completely agree with you.
Footage was “interesting” I guess, but I couldn’t figure out what the heck I was seeing - but a “decapitation” it wasn’t. Not by my definition.

I suppose we could define this as, "complete cranial avulsion, followed by near complete exsanguination" instead, but forgive me for using a simplified, more commonly understood term for the peasantry...

Will you ever find it in your heart
to forgive me, for such a blatant atrocity?
