Nothing to be alarmed about folks. It happens all the time. Just ignore the body.

Re: China - Man Dies in a Shop After Paying for His Goods

...how is it that so many posters have completely missed the multiple posts by several members (myself included) that explain the main reason why we see this happening in China all the time?

Good Samaritan laws are VERY recent in China, with the first national legislation only getting passed into law in 2017.

Prior to this, ANY individual involved in a incident where someone is injured or killed could be financially responsible for the injured party for the rest of their lives.

It didn't matter if someone was trying to help, and the courts even supported this in multiple cases. It's a cultural aspect that is deeply ingrained, and at its core, it comes down to taking responsability for one's actions.

Unfortunately, this had led to behavior that would be considered abhorrent in many nations:

Many of those clips showing people being run over multiple times are a direct result of this tradition. Quite simply, it's a choice of potentially being financially on the hook for the rest of the victim's life, or just having to make a single restitution to their family if they are killed.

If you think this video was bad, just look up the 2011 incident where Wang Yue, a bloody toddler, was run over by not one but two cars, and were left crying on the road.

At least 18 people just walked by, even though she was conscious, crying, moving, and outright bleeding.

Why did they do this?

Multiple witnesses directly stated that her young age, and apparent injuries made helping too much of a risk.

It wasn't until an elderly trash scavenger, someone who literally had nothing she could lose came upon the girl, but by then it was far too late.

Saying that the Chinese don't care simply isn't true in many cases, and in all honesty, if a similar tradition existed in whatever nation you reside, and knowing that it would destroy you and your family's finances and lives, would you be willing to risk showing anything aside from apathy?
