Umm.... he was clearly NOT trying to break up the fight. He was trying to pick up that heavy bag of rocks or whatever the fuck is in it. Likely was going to hit someone with it.

Quite a novel way of trying to break-up a fight by vigorously punching a guy. I guess the victim's reasoning was something like, "If I just keep punching him with all my strength he'll suddenly stop and say, 'Oh, you're right! This is all so senseless and foolish, and violence is not the answer!'"  Sadly, we missed a cool moment due to bad camerawork with him lurching towards the camera holding the puncture near his jugular with a total "I'm fucked!" look on his face.
