Between magazines, television, music, and all sorts of media, romanticizing this way of life has been integral to attracting young recruits since its inception. Anyone who scoffs at the role of social media influencing in this process is likely out of touch. Lifestyle blogging/influencers exist in almost every conceivable facet of social living across racial, ethnic, geographic, gender, political, religious, and economic boundaries. That social influencing should exist for the criminal lifestyle, especially one with a rich history in marketing, should be no surprise to anyone with the most basic understanding of human sociology.  |
