On the morning of September 28, 2026, 41-year-old Marco Antonio V. A, widely recognized in Peru as a children’s entertainer named Payasito Lamparita and being the official master of ceremonies for a musical group was shot and killed.

He had spent the overnight hours hosting and performing at an event inside a cevichería, and did a show he even live-streamed to followers hours prior.

Witnesses and neighbors stated that a violent street fight broke out among attendees right outside the venue as the establishment was closing. According to this version, the victim attempted to step in and mediate the altercation, prompting one of the combative individuals to draw a firearm and shoot him.

A secondary account alleges that two armed men were actively waiting for him outside the cevichería. As he stepped out to drink water and converse with two women, the hitmen ambushed him directly. Investigators are looking into whether this targeted angle links back to extortion.

His sister spoke to local news outlets, explaining that he worked multiple jobs around the clock to financially support his young son, who lives abroad and has now been left orphaned.

Fellow children's animators, musicians and family members are holding public vigils, calling on the Ministry of Interior to combat the rising tide of local urban violence, and demanding that authorities review security camera footage to identify the shooter.

Perhaps it's because his clown name was "Booby the Blatherer"!
