Could he have been the one who set it. Figured he’d go up on the roof and escape, didn’t realize just how lethal it was, succumbed to the smoke, and began burning where he fell?  |

the only thing is that popped head, tho... it seems more likely that a giant shock could do that than a quick roasting... but he is in a weird position, so could be exactly how you said.. it's like a morbid logic problem...
