Bertha Gisela Gaytán was at a rally in the town of San Miguel Octopan when armed men approached and shot her six times. That is the means that should be followed, not me as a candidate, no, but the party [Morena] requested it from the INE and the IEEG. Let's see if they have any answers to us about that today. The candidate opened her campaign yesterday morning at the Morelos Market in Celaya, where elements of the Municipal Police arrived to provide security.

Gisela Gaytán presented her slate and highlighted her work program, in which she placed security as a priority to recover peace in the municipality of Celaya, which is currently governed by the PAN, and to end corruption. In the evening, the state Attorney General's Office issued a statement in which it reported that criminal investigation agents and forensic experts were collecting evidence at the scene "that would lead to identifying, locating and capturing those responsible."
