Pretty sure it was his feet. And he hit that car so hard, it lifted the wheels of the car off the ground 2 feet. Along with having a passenger on your back pushing all their force into you. That guy was dead immediately. This happens alot. Bikers go to where the car is going to be. If the biker just stayed in his lane he would have missed the car. |

~ That pair of old dufuluses, having a senior moment, could have just made the U-turn where they were at initially, but instead decided to go out of their way, taking unnecessary chances, by slowly going forward & slowly entering the road. They are to blame. ~ The road is clearly marked with solid lines as for not making U-turns. ~ The motorcycle driver could have also mistakenly thought they were entering the road in the same direction as him, so he didn't slow down & veer until it was too late. |

Re: Car Makes Illegal U-turn on Highway Leading to Fatal T-bone Collision with Bike
I used to ride and it's not so easy to say "just stay in your lane" in that situation. Often times when a car is cutting you off, it's because they don't see you and sometimes they'll see you late which will make them slam on their brakes. So if the rider committed to staying in his lane hoping the car continued its direction, if the driver saw him late and braked he still would've collided with the car.

I survived a very similar incident by jumping up off my bike before it hit the car. I went flying over the car and off the road but at least I didn't go 60 mph to 0 in an instant. I was lucky to be able to make that kind of life saving decision since I wasn't riding with a passenger.

Re: Car Makes Illegal U-turn on Highway Leading to Fatal T-bone Collision with Bike
Exactly. I gave it up a long time ago. My uncle was crippled for life when a car ran a light and hit him on his bike. Now whenever I am out in my car I make a special point to yield to bikers no matter how they are riding, legally or otherwise. Nobody deserves to be killed, maimed, disfigured or crippled because they ride badly or are rude, as some bikers can be. When the occasion arises I will drive behind a bike at a safe distance just to keep other cars from crowding the rider from behind.
