Car Falls From Vehicle Lift, Fatally Striking Auto Mechanic
Istanbul, Turkey. Happened on April 10th, but the CCTV footage was only published a few days ago. An auto mechanic, Fatih T., was seriously injured when the car he was repairing, which was lifted by a vehicle lift, fell on him. After 22 days of treatment in intensive care, Fatih lost his life. Fatih's grieving family raised the possibility of negligence. According to his brother: The brother also noted that Fatih was still owed three months' wages at the time of his death. It also turned out that, a month before the incident, the lift had failed, sending a car crashing down onto the ground. When an apprentice brought this up to the garage owners, they insisted "we know the lift is like that, it's not a problem. Just keep working with it." |

Thats kind of odd, looks like the car was well balanced on the hoist. I dont know what the other side looked like, but thats unfortunate. RIP.

Physics. The 4 lift arms freely rotate and they slope toward the outbound ends. Many uni-body cars have polyethylene liners on the bottom rails = slippery. The car will naturally slide down the slope of the lift arms and push the arms out of the way exactly as the vid shows. So many things wrong here:

Owed 3 months wages. At what point do you stop coming in to work or just walk? "Look here. 4 months without getting paid is my limit. Ok 5, but that's it!" Shit like this is why I employ instead of being employed, but I think one week would be about the top end. |
