He did cut a fair portion off the left hemisphere but was obviously still somewhat functional because he cut it front to back, where I would guess it would be quicker and do way more damage it would've had to be cut sideways, ear to ear, then half of both hemispheres of the brain would be gone.

Man, that's fucking wild. I remember seeing a photo of an Iraq/Afghan war veteran with 40% of his brain missing. But it's still surreal to see a guy still stumbling around despite him slicing a decent chunk of his brain off.
