I can't be the only one confused by the circumstances. He has to be stuck, but I can't clearly imagine how, seeing that he managed to get so far out of the thing already. It's not his seatbelt, and he isn't pinned in his seat.

It could be the smallest thing holding him on, like his belt buckle hooked on something, he's not in a good position to get out of that unless he puts his palms against the outside of the door to push back up and unhook himself, but if the fat in his hands is melting into a slippy, greasy mess he'll have no grip to do that.
