A man identified only as Cleiton was shot three times in the head on Wednesday afternoon (24), on the banks of the BR-316 highway, in Marituba, Pará state. The gun of the victim, who was not a police officer, was stolen. No suspects have been arrested.

According to information from the Military Police, the crime took place at around 2pm, when establishments in the area are usually closed for their lunch break. CCTV footage showed that Cleiton was distracted on his cell phone when two men in a motorcycle turned up.

According to initial police investigations, Cleiton, who was a security guard at a junk store and a pet food store near the town's Emergency Care Unit, may have been mistaken for a public security agent who worked nearby.
