Brazilian Police Officer Shot Dead Inside Mobile Phone Shop
A 33-year-old military policeman was killed inside a cell phone store, late this Friday morning (19), at Parque Bela Vista, in Salvador, Bahia state. The victim was identified as G.S.d.C. Initial information indicated that G. was the owner of the establishment. Security camera footage of the establishment shows that the three suspects entered the store and announced the robbery. The officer was approached and after one of the men walked towards him, he made a movement, as if trying to grab a gun in his waistband. Then, the policeman tries to take the gun from one of the suspects, but is shot by another member of the armed group. G. was rushed to hospital, but died from his injuries. His gun and several cell phones were taken by the criminals. |

On the 22nd, one of the criminals was shot dead by police. E.R.S.S. was the one who fired the fatal shot. E., who already had a police record, had been hiding out in a property in the neighbouring city of Feira de Santana.

Re: Brazilian Police Officer Shot Dead Inside Mobile Phone Shop
Argentinian cops undergo yearly training sessions where they practice shooting a box of 50 rounds of 9mm. Parabellum. It's hard to imagine how little proficiency they can get under such conditions, practicing 50 shots a year is ludicrous. Now, their Brazilian counterparts must be getting similar "training" sessions, so we can imagine. There are lots of pictures on the web where you can see Brazilian Civil and Military police men and women posing in some sort of "bad ass" stance with a gun or rifle in hand (some of them pointing directly at the cameraman Yikes! Their training session pictures show them not even being able to get a good grip on their pistols and the recoil making the muzzle point from 60 to almost 90 degrees for female cops, some of them grip the gun way too low and have zero control. I bet the critical holstering and un-holstering training must be last in the things to master and virtually non existent IMHO. Many people who carry never pay attention to this critical aspect of concealed carrying, most of them only focus on shooting accuracy when the first thing you have to do is get the weapon out of the holster as fast as possible in the first place. That Taurus G2C in 9mm. must have been the killer's pistol because the cops use the Taurus PT640 in .40 S&W. |
