Re: Brazilian Man Drops Off Fourth Floor of Shopping Mall
One more case of suicide was recorded at Shopping Boulevard, on Avenida Visconde de Souza Franco, in Belém, yesterday afternoon, the 24th Advice from the Public Ministry of the State of Pará (MPPA). It is important to remember that this discussion is not new and the discussion has already been raised in the capital years ago. To date, we have not received a response from the MPPA. Last year the mall was notified and partially complied with the measures at the time, installing protective screens in the parking lots, but in the internal areas only the guardrails were isolated and the number of security guards around the structures was increased. These measures, however, were abandoned some time later, with the removal of the insulation of the guardrails and the significant reduction in the number of security guards in this area. According to Shopping, since 2013, when the first case was registered, there have been 7 occurrences within the establishment. Two of them last year. The PL authored by councilor Fábio Souza (PSB) calls for the “mandatory installation of fall protection screens in common areas, such as shopping malls and galleries for security purposes”. In addition, colleges, schools and places of great movement of people, with more than two floors, are also included in the PL. |
