Notice that the trucks were descending downhill for a while, and it is saving gas. But as you get to a slow car with lots of load, its like a freight train. I guess the kid had higher speed, more load on less concentration. Notice the mile long slipstroke, and firy debris. H. had all odds against him. Except his father. So don't think his father had 20 secs. to free him, he was getting grilled more than a minute before. His cabin has moved 2 meters to the back. |

I was also wondering about why such a long debris field. I've professionally worked around aircraft accidents, and this smoking debris looks like what a plane leaves behind as its crashing and skidding around the ground. In plane crashes, passengers are often screaming and burning to death in mangled wreckage. It's part of the risk of flying.
