Military policeman who got 'out of control' and fired upwards in the region of Farol da Barra, in Salvador is shot.
According to the Military Police, a man got emotionally out of control and shot upwards. There are no details about his health condition. The military policeman who presented psychotic outbreaks and shot upwards in the afternoon of Sunday (28), in the region of Farol da Barra, in Salvador, was shot after the 3:30 am negotiation with the Special Police Operations Battalion (BOPE) teams, in the early hours of the night.

The PM, identified as W. S. G., was engaged and had worked in the 72nd CIPM for at least four years.

W. G. was rescued by an Emergency Medical Service (Samu) team and transferred to the State General Hospital (HGE). According to the commander of the 72nd CIPM, Hosannah Santos Rocha, the soldier is intubated, in serious condition.

The family reported that W. G. had never had outbreaks. This Sunday afternoon, his face was painted green and yellow.

According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP-BA), the policeman was shot after firing a rifle at the Special Police Operations Battalion garrison and ended up neutralized.

Following the PM's shots, the journalists were subjected to rubber bullets after attempts by police officers to remove the media professionals from the scene.

In a note, Sinjorba stated that it "strongly condemns the behavior of the police officers involved in this unfortunate episode." The institution also said that "there was no need to act in this manner because the journalists were working and posed no threat to the PMs or the operation."

Teams from the Salvador Traffic Superintendence (Transalvador) diverted traffic from Farol da Barra to Rua Barão de Itapuã.

Check the chronological order of events:
14h: The event began when the military arrived armed with a rifle and a pistol, to Barra. He immediately fired rifle shots into the air. He was surrounded by the CPR Atlântico and specialized police units, which isolated the place.
15:00: According to the SSP, a BOPE team started the negotiation. The soldier alternated moments of lucidity with tantrums, accompanied by gunshots. According to the public security agency, in addition to rifle shots, the soldier threw bars, isopores and bicycles into the sea.
18:35: The soldier reportedly said that the time had come, counted down and started firing at the Bope teams. After at least 10 shots, the soldier was neutralized and rescued to the State General Hospital (HGE).
After 18:40 hours: The journalists tried to approach the policeman and were driven away with rubber bullets.

"The Military Police deeply regrets the episode that took place this Sunday (28), in Farol da Barra, when all efforts were made for a peaceful end during a possible outbreak of a PM. The Special Police Operations Battalion adopted the security protocols and the injured MP was immediately rescued by SAMU. The corporation also became aware of a video of the moment when the press was following the event and was interrogated by a military policeman. The fact will be duly investigated".
