This statement implies that if they're in Hell, than no healing will occur, and they'll remain in torment! The "language" of theologians is found and read between the lines....logic, and reason are its cipher!

Nobody "goes" anywhere after death, guys. They just decompose, and the matter and particle arangements that made them up degrade, become disorganized, scatter and do not form a cohesive, organized whole organism anymore—rendering sentience impossible (without a functioning body, blood pressure, oxygen to the brain, etc.). Sorry for the dose of reality, but it's better than lying to oneself. |

Yet it is interesting to note the metaphors of popular speech that just won't go away: "passed on", "passed away" (implying to some place). It is as though a belief in "something beyond" is almost ingrained in the culture, and survives despite the pronouncements of the scientific establishment over the past two centuries. While Freud is considered passe these days, there may be some kind of mass (Jungian?) psychological explanation for this phenomenon.
