On Wednesday morning (11 May 2022), the trial of the three accused of stabbing G. C. d. S. to death at a condominium in downtown Palmas began. The crime took place on April 8, 2020. At the time, the victim was 32 years old and was hit by five stab wounds. The murder was caught by security cameras in a building located at Arse 12, The Jury Court is held at the Palmas courthouse. The defendants are: Gessé Alves de Sena, Alex Cordeiro de Castro and Carlos Rodrigues da Silva Santana. At the time of the events, the Civil Police said that G. was part of a criminal faction and had been released from prison the day before. The crime would have been motivated by a settling of accounts and a debt of 15 real. Security camera video shows that the victim arrived at the condominium door around 7 pm on the 8th, while being chased by a man with a knife in his hand. Just behind comes another criminal, also armed with a knife. The video shows the victim knocking on the condominium door and trying to defend himself with kicks. He fails and is soon surrounded and stabbed several times. A third suspect appears moments later, when the victim was already being injured, but just watches from afar and flees the scene along with the other two men. The accused were arrested the following day by police officers from the Metropolitan Tactical Ostensive Rounds (Rotam). Two of them were found in blocks 504 South and 604 South. After questioning, they took the police to the place where they had hidden the knife used in the crime. The weapon was located next to a power pole behind a gas station on block 404 South. The third was arrested in the square of block 204 South. The police had gone to the scene to return a dog that was with the first accused and ended up identifying the third person involved. Update: Sentence: one suspect got 12 years, the other 24 years and 9 months. third suspect was acquitted. |
