Re: Brazil - Guy Executed Trying To Shoot Robbers
On the afternoon of 19th June 2022 in São José dos Campos (Brazil), 55 year old J.d.S.R. was murdered. 'J', a civilian police officer, was shot 3 times during a robbery at a grocery shop. He was taken to the hospital, but soon succumbed to his injuries. The wannabe robbers didn't end up stealing anything + 2 of them have been identified. Longer video (not that it really adds anything!):

Re: Brazil - Guy Executed Trying To Shoot Robbers
I don't care how many of you dislike my comment, it still stands. It's a fact of life that as men grow older their reflexes slow down, so it's imperative in situations like this that they assess the situation before acting. The robbers were already on their way out and already on camera when the old man decided to pull out his cannon. He would have been more useful, and stayed alive, if he had just quietly stood back, memorized the license plate and the appearances of the thugs, and given that information to the police. What purpose does it serve to play hero if you're just gonna get shot in the face |

Re: Brazil - Guy Executed Trying To Shoot Robbers
Dude, no one is arguing old people have slow reflexes... we're saying the man died because of a lack of situational awareness, his reflexes wasn't a determining factor in his death, he never saw it coming, even though he should've. Reflexes only came into play when the flip flopped robber realized the old man was about to draw on him, so he turned to run in response. Awareness came into play when the shooter picked up on the obvious tells the old guy was about to draw on his partner and had him in his sights before the guy even had a chance to really get hands on his gun. This frame pretty much sums it up. |

Re: Brazil - Guy Executed Trying To Shoot Robbers
He tried waiting his turn, but got tunnel vision. If he created a little more distance, concealed his draw, and stayed focused on the main threat (guy with gun in hand), he might have pulled it off.
