Once he's down, his buddies appear to do the whole "hey-you-awake?-smacking-his-face-thing", seeming oblivious to the head would. I'm sure this guy didn't expect to die that day, just as his buds weren't expecting it either. The only "good" thing to this, is that he never felt a thing.
