At least two people died and several are missing after heavy rains this Saturday caused the overflow of the Los Patos stream in Las Tejerías.

The Vice Minister for Risk Management and Civil Protection, Carlos Pérez Ampueda, said on Twitter that Las Tejerías is facing “affectations due to sediments, fallen trees, and debris” in the El Béisbol neighborhood, the industrial zone, and the central area.

Around midnight, the approximately 50,000 inhabitants of Las Tejerías had no electricity or telephone signal, other havoc left by the rains in the area.

“Search and rescue operations are being carried out,” added Pérez Ampueda, who reported one missing person, although the local media speak of at least eight, citing reports from relatives.
