Given that the cop was already shot at, I have to take my hat off to this cop, and I feel genuinely sorry for him. Not only because of what he had to do now, but because he's the kind of cop who is liable to get shot in the future for being the nice guy, leaving more dickhead cops behind who are more inclined to shoot first even if they are not in danger...

Once the cop retreated from the gunfire they should have sent in the A team and smoked his ass out, or go in hard and fast..and drag him out alive hopefully. no need to talk with the dude when he clearly wants to die.
