Bodies of Two Tortured Cousins Dumped on the Highway

An armed group kidnapped three members from the same family, in Ilheus, Bahia state, and took them to a closed forest area, where a trial by the so-called "crime court" took place. The deceased were identified as 18-year-old J.S.M. and his nephew, 22-year-old J.M.M., who were residents of Barro Preto, 30km away from Ilheus. The other kidnapped victim - 40-year-old J.M., the father of J.S.M. - survived by feigning death.

According to investigations, the three men were in Olivença to spend New Year's Eve and were kidnapped by at least seven armed criminals last weekend. The bandits fired several shots at the young men, who did not resist. The two dead bodies were found on Tuesday morning (3).

After the criminals left the scene, J.M. left in search for help and was taken by a SAMU team to a nearby hospital. J.M. narrated that they were taken to a closed forest area, from where one of the criminals talked to someone who determined the punishment.

J.M. also reported that the bandits accessed the messages on his nephew's mobile phone and found information related to drug trafficking. From there, they began the beating session and then the shots were fired. He also said that he and his son had never been involved in crime.
