Great Purge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I believe this footage is from the Great Purge, however there have been so many mass killings over there I could be wrong. |

well i can tell you its not from the great purge of the 30s, because of the film, but its definetly a purge of some sort, The Russians really did not continues this after stalin was dead

They may be the dead from the Stalin-induced famines when the Russians pushed collectivisation on the kulacks (wealthier peasants) They took all their food, even digging up what they might have tried to save, then left them to starve to death, which millions did. This was in the mid 1930's The purges were better organized, and people taken in the purges usually died right after their trial - shot to death. They didn't dump them by the side of the road. Unless this is a labor camp, where they worked them to death. |

Just as likely to be World War 2 footage, seems to me. Russian army or German army found it easier to kill civilians, so they did.....in addition to killing each other  |

I can tell you if this was famine I would have survived for years on all that flesh and meat ! I know there are some folks who wouldn't but I wouldn't have discriminated between those folks and a big cookout at my house . |
